I am Amy, a product designer from Denver, Colorado.
I am currently a Lead Experience Designer at Thoughtworks where I have led design and research on many products including an online form helping survivors of domestic abuse find the legal advice they need and a way for behavioral health therapists to help patients get the care. Having led the design process for many big enterprise brands with complex problems, I have learned how to balance business and technical constraints while advocating for user needs and desires in an agile environment.
Before my current position, I was a service designer who used insights gathered through research to improve the service offerings of a beloved geek subscription service and worked as a communication designer at a national coffee company designing retail environments, coffee packaging and employee apparel.
I believe that design is the glue that brings everything around us together. I am passionate about creative processes, connecting with people, getting to know them, and improving their experiences. I love making things look good, but mainly aim to make them useful. I care deeply about designing in an ethical, inclusive, and empathetic way. I am a natural collaborator and work best on multidisciplinary teams with different perspectives, learning from different people.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking, walking my golden retriever and playing my ukulele.
Illustration
Every project I take on is an opportunity to learn, grow, and do something meaningful. I draw to communicate ideas in ways that everyone can understand and illustrate to tell stories that delight readers.
Sketchbook
I am also inspired by the seasons whether it’s in nature, seasonal eatings or cultural traditions. In a previous life I was an illustrator. My love of drawing continues to this day and I keep a sketchbook of interesting plants or meals I enjoy.
